Welcome

Welcome. You are the first reader of my inaugural post on my new site: My Written Thoughts (MWT).

Years ago, I launched my first blog using a pen name. Why would I write day-after-day without revealing my identity? The answer is quite simple. Criticism and Exposure.

To be completely honest with you, I hate criticism. I don’t fully buy into the phrase “constructive criticism”.  (I think that term is oxymoronic – just like – an honest thief.) Sure, I believe there are constructive comments shared in privacy with a generous tone. But many critics tend to be harsh and hurtful – without the hint of being helpful. Am I Right?

And too, I don’t really share the major happenings of my life. When I do disclose, I have a tiny and tight circle of confidantes. I celebrate the good things in life – privately – so that I don’t appear to be a braggart… and I suffer in silence so that my burdens are not transferred.

My comfort zone is flying solo under the radar.

But that’s all about to change, isn’t it? In a really big way. Thanks to the inception of My Written Thoughts.

So what converted me from a nameless and faceless writer into a public, unapologetic blogger?

The Answer:  Major, transformative life events which cut to my very core and shifted every paradigm that I believed to be true. The past few years have been both an enormous blessing and the most difficult of days.

After 3 years of wondering and wandering and worrying, I read a quote that was more powerful than my need for privacy or my reluctance to lend myself to criticism.

I read a lot. Too much, actually. So I can’t exactly pinpoint the source of the quote…but I’d like to share it with you.

“True human tragedy is:   If on your last day, the song in your spirit is left unsung.” (Paraphrasing)

I realized that my song is to write…out loud…not hiding behind the opaque curtain of anonymity in a blind blog.

Over the next few days, I’ll introduce my new blog and what you can expect from MWT.

Again, welcome. Let’s talk tomorrow.
