Sharing a Cup of Coffee

Good morning.

Today, I’m sharing a little insight about my boys… and a small confession.

My “in-house” consultants happen to be my two sons…even though they don’t actually live in-the-house. Both are in college. Both are well on their way to establishing their own careers. But they still make time for me.

My older son (who is nothing short of a genius when it comes to innovation) created this website and continues to provide invaluable, professional counsel. The office of editor-in-chief (a title I’ve given without him knowing!) is occupied by my younger son who is a wonderful writer and even better adviser.

I am enormously thankful to both boys for their contributions to MWT. Without my sons, I would not have launched my original blog or this new website. Period. I appreciate their technical and moral support.

They are wonderful sons, remarkable young men, and ideal business consultants.

Confession: My written voice is as prolific as my spoken one.

When I was a little girl, a family member informed me that if I had duct tape over my mouth, I would find a way to talk through my ears. Same with writing, if my hands were tied behind my back, I would find a way to type with my nose.

I was lucky enough to find a fantastic writing course in the fall of 2013 at a local university in the city. I had an amazing teacher. I looked forward to every class. My teacher taught us a foolproof method of solving writer’s block. Since then, the words flood onto the paper. So watch out.

Remember I mentioned a private blog a few years back?

Well, my ‘editor’ gave me sage advice before my first day of writing:

“Keep the length of your posts short enough to read while drinking a cup of coffee.”

Unfortunately, I took that advice to mean a Venti (the 24 ounce cup at Starbucks), or perhaps the Trenta (31) – but certainly not the demi-tasse.

After reading my blog, my younger son would text and simply say, “That was a pot of coffee.”

My request… please sip your coffee (no matter how large or small) very slowly as you read.
