Finding Your Brand of Fun….and Scheduling Time for it.
My Cupcakes.
This batch was made for a potluck supper last week.
Even if you don’t like cupcakes…
Read On.
This post is not really about cupcakes.
It’s about hobbies and avocations.
It’s about being happy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About doing something that makes you smile without effort.
That’s the whole topic today.
Finding Your Brand of Fun.
And unapologetically making time to pursue it.
I so love creating these little cakes-in-a-cup that I dreamed up a new business.
Yep. A Cupcakery – online – out of my kitchen.
I even had business cards printed.
You should have seen the look on my husband’s face when these cards arrived in the mail.
My tag line was:
~les petit gateaux sans grande boulangerie prix~
Translations: “Little Cakes without big bakery prices.”
Remember my post The Stone? (Category: Friday Inspirational)
I wrote about attending summer school in France.
You and I both know – the French are famous for their pastries.
So, I thought if I adopted a French slogan, it might make my cupcake business sound delicious and delectable.
In support of my ‘new’ business, my family decided to give me a stand-up mixer for Christmas.
And out of complete respect, they allowed me to shop for the best bargain – on sale at Macy’s with a $50 mail-in rebate. I am allergic to full retail prices. And my family is totally aware of that fact.
The first time I used it, I felt overjoyed. I wanted this mixer for about a decade. Seriously.
You know the best part?
You can walk away… and prepare another part of your work station.
Remember my Mother of the Groom: You need to shut up and wear beige! post?
I wrote about my Wilton Buttercream Skills Course.
Even got a certificate of completion.
Loved learning professional piping skills with different frosting tips.
And in that same post, I talked about my cupcake tower I will use for my son’s Rehearsal Dinner.
Do you know the best part of making cupcakes?
Making enough to give away to neighbors…
while keeping a couple to eat with a cup of hot coffee while blogging.
I decided against starting a Commercial Cupcake Business.
Ok. So I was out the $10 spent on my business cards. So What? Creating that card was fun, too!
But I still love baking for family, friends, and neighbors.
Cupcakes make me so happy, I bought a crystal paperweight for my writing desk.
I believe everyone should surround themselves with reminders of ‘happy’.
Daily Happiness is totally discounted and disregarded in our society.
My last written thought just for you this morning:
“The only difference between an extraordinary life and an ordinary one is the extraordinary pleasures you find in ordinary things.”
