Hello Again. I’m back and ready to write.

FullSizeRender (87)

Yes, it’s been a week since I last wrote to you.

After my beloved dog son, Nitro, unexpectedly passed away, I lost all of my words.  Sincerely, I did.

During this time, I learned something new about myself.

I can easily write pages after pages of copy when I’m happy….angry….sad….tired….resentful….or basically unconscious.

But, I cannot find a single word when I am grieving over a life that I loved so dearly.

As I revealed in one of my posts under the category – An Introduction: Biographical Background, I took the best writing class in the Fall of 2013 at RICE University.  My professor taught a technique to overcome the dreaded curse of an author – ‘writer’s block’.

After that class, I never had a shortage of written thoughts…

…until the day my dog died.

So it’s 2:45 am.

Without an explanation, I woke up and wanted to write.

I figured that was a really good sign, and I shouldn’t postpone that notion until the morning.

So here I am.

Didn’t even have a picture for this post. So how do you like the photo I just took of my favorite ink stamp?

There was a lesson to be learned during this week of reflection and non-writing.

I wasn’t just grieving for a pet.  I deeply felt the loss of a beautiful segment of my life. Nitro’s presence was intertwined with the youth of my sons.  Good times at the lake house.  And he was a part of every major milestone for the past 15 years.

Nitro and my husband had a most special bond.  A mutual admiration that proved that ole’ cliché – A dog is truly a man’s best friend.

Nitro was a constant in my daily routine. While I was cooking dinner at night or sorting my laundry, he was there watching to make sure I was doing everything right.

And how many countless hours did we spend tethered together while taking a lovely walk around the lake?

Simply, Nitro embodied the good things in life.

Love.  Loyalty.  Laughter.

Okay. I’ll return on Monday, June 29, with –

Buying Big and Beautiful on a Budget.

I just bought something super fantastic (Waterford crystal) deeply discounted, and I’ll include that purchase in my post on Monday.

And you know this for sure – if something works well in my life, I am going to share with you!

I would normally write an inspirational piece for Friday – but my family is coming in town for a visit.

Thank you for reading even when I wasn’t posting new stuff.

Talk to you on Monday…

with more of My Written Thoughts.
