How to Salvage a Bad Weekend!

My Herb Container Garden

 in a Terra Cotta Pot

Good Monday morning to you.

No wi-fi in my home….sitting in Starbucks with a very loud person next to me.  (I hope I don’t accidentally type what he’s saying.)

I sincerely hope your weekend was relaxing and fun….and better than mine.

Not to bore you with the sordid details of my less-than-perfect weekend, but I was having a very difficult time handling very difficult people. So much so that I was weepy while sitting in church. (And it was an uplifting sermon.)

But not to dwell on unkind people…

I chose to change my attitude and my activity.

And I believe if it helped turn my weekend around, then it’s worth sharing with you. As with everything I write in MWT, just tuck this away in your arsenal of Good Things…and perhaps, it may help you.

______

So here’s a little secret between blog friends….

Remember my post on 2nd and 3rd Act Careers for Empty Nesters?

Think back to a time when you were very, very young.

What made you happy?

What did you enjoy doing?

Well, I took my own advice and did just that.

____

I grew up on a farm. And since I was a little girl, I loved gardening.

It is no secret that there are benefits to growing a garden.

Saving money on produce.

Having fresh, tasty vegetables versus the bland store-bought variety.

But the greatest benefit for me? Enjoying something that brought me back to my roots. (Pun Intended.)

______

Crate&Barrel – Gronomics Elevated Garden Bed

Yes, there is a garden for empty nesters with no yard.

My post on downsizing – Living in Abundance with Less – revealed that everything in our life shrunk. Especially our yard.

And my in-ground garden got the kibosh.

Since 2009, I have had a terra-cotta pot Container Garden.

Here’s another option for you!

I recently asked a friend if she enjoyed gardening.

So loved her response, “Lisa, I don’t do dirt!”

Well, I do. And I love it.

If your passion is growing food for your family, check it out.

To learn more about the specifications and dimensions, click here for a quick link to Crate&Barrel.

So understand that this piece  is a little on the pricey side.

It took me a couple of years to finally decide to buy.

Rare is the day that I buy anything at full retail price.

I waited until I received a mailer with a coupon for Crate&Barrel…I believe it was 20% off.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It goes without saying…but I’ll say it anyway.
If I write a promo for a product or recommend a book, it means that I personally purchased it or received it as a gift. And it has genuinely helped me or my family or my students in some way. I will not pitch or promote an item for a fee.
Tomorrow – Let’s return to my favorite topic: Education. Shall we?
I will begin the first of many posts about dealing with our initial shock, years of struggle, and my son’s ultimate success with dyslexia.
