KonMari….continued!

Now, I admire my closet daily!
I believe the KonMari technique has your items fully visible, I may be violating a serious rule – here…. I’ll have to do a little research on this topic.
But I love that my treasured and cherished items are stored in a beautiful way.
Everything has a place!
When I travel, I can now just go to this area of my closet.
All together in one place: I have my own plane blanket all zippered up along with my neck-rest, and noise-cancelling headphones. Located here is my hotel steamer so I don’t have to iron on the road and my waistband money belt so I never have to carry a purse when sightseeing.
I had 4 pair of black dress shoes….but I deleted a pair on Clothes Day.
This is pure JOY!

On To Book Day!

Book Day (3 days, actually)
was considerably more difficult –
than Clothes.
Why? Because I have more books than outfits, and I cherish my library more than my clothes.
You are not seeing double. Yes, I have 2 copies of Sheryl Sandberg’s book. I use to have 4…..I gave 2 away as gifts and outrageously annotated & severely highlighted my first copy so I bought a clean copy to keep for my library.

It is befitting that I store my children’s beloved books in this hutch.
This is a favorite piece of furniture. It is a custom-made piece
( indigenous Cypresswood) from a little store in South Louisiana.
Believe me when I say this: I had 2 ginormous tubs in my off-site storage unit full of my sons’ books. I gave away all but the ones left in this hutch – when I downsized in 2012.
This little stand-alone cabinet was atrociously packed full of toys, books, keepsakes, etc. I actually cringed when I thought about opening the little door….So I never did!!!!!
TaaaaaDaaaaa!!!!!!
Now – when I open the door to my hutch, my mind instantly goes to a happy time in my life.
JOY is located here.
Before, every shelf was filled with sardine-packed books & keepsake trinkets.
I have made a point to peek inside this hutch every day this week!

And Finally, THIS masterpiece…..
Before I even went to school, this is the book…..that my mom used to teach me how to read.
It is a lost treasure that was disrespected in a pile of books.
There are many wonderful gifts that KonMari gives to those who partake….and giving homage and acknowledgement to the items that truly fill your life with sparks of JOY is something I have genuinely experienced this week.

Thank you for reading.

I love writing to you and sharing what is working well in my life.

Now on to PAPERS…..UGHHHHHHHH….I hoard papers. I print off hard copies of every important email (& text messages – That’s how sick my paper addiction really is!)

I’m holding my nose and diving into the deep end of my pool of paperwork – after lunch. Wish me luck. I’ll need it. It’s not going to be pretty.
