KonMari: Kitchen Komono

Kitchen KonMari at its best!!!
Now…..this gives me joy.
My Mom’s Sugar Canister – from my childhood!

****************
Pastry Santa and Sommelier Santa
are the only Santas who live in my kitchen year ’round.
Yes! They spark giant JOY!
[The other Santas live in storage for 11 months out of the year.]

Hello Again.

It’s been quite a while since I wrote to you about my KonMari journey. My son came in town for an eight day visit. Of course, he was my top priority!

Here’s a pictorial journal of my Kitchen KonMari quest! Komono is such a wide-reaching category. And kitchen Konomo is quite a task.

In the far back corner on the top shelf of this cabinet, I found my mom’s sugar canister.
It was hidden for 6 – 1/2 years.
BEFORE KONMARI….
Difficult to enter the pantry.

This brings anti-joy.

So what did I find in my junky pantry?

Expired Food Items. Foods we will never eat. But also Surprise items that I forgot I even had!

Clutter begets Chaos
One day, I made an emergency trip to COSTCO for trash bags.
L@@k what I found tucked in the
corner (on the floor) of my pantry?

Plenty of trash bags.
New William Sonoma Dish Towels!
Never used.
Bought December 2018.

I have been using dish rags which looked like I had changed
automobile oil with them. YUCK!
During the process of clearing
out the clutter,
I felt instant joy…
just seeing the hidden potential
of my pantry.
It’s always Messy before the Masterpiece!

After KonMari.

This drawer was so crowded, it didn’t open or shut without great effort.
AFTER KONMARI
After my pantry was organized and tidied, I found grocery shopping so much easier.
I now know exactly what food items I need to buy.
Now “Pastry” Santa
& “Sommelier” Santa
bring joy to my Kitchen.
These Santas are just waiting
for November 1st
when the rest of the Santas
shed their bubble wrap
and decorate the whole first floor.
Now, talk about some real life JOY!!!!

As always, thank you for sharing my KonMari Adventure. I hope that documenting the method and a little of the madness will help you achieve a KonMari Home.

This beautiful process has not been easy for me….but it has been extremely therapeutic and cleansing. This has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my adult life. Truly, it has been.

Even though I have felt this sentiment in my heart many times, I have never actually written the words down… so here it is:

THANK YOU – MARIE KONDO.
