Sorry Marie….I’m adding 2 more categories to KonMari!
From my Hawaiian sundresses purchased in Maui at my son’s wedding…. to my decades old, but beloved classic houndstooth silk skirt….and even, my past-its-prime-but comfy slacks ….Every piece is held and judged.
The KonMari Method makes you handle each piece of clothing with respect and gratitude. What article of clothing sparks Joy? What garment will travel with you into the future?

Marie guides you through many different categories. Clothing. Books. Papers (my home office – ugh!). Komono (miscellaneous – the largest category to tackle because it includes your kitchen & garage). Mementos (sentimental items).

My husband thinks I’m obsessed with KonMari.
Guilty as charged.
In 2019, I found the whole process to be challenging, but rewarding. It was exhausting and creative at the same time. This process allows me to channel my OCD tendencies into a constructive and productive exercise.
It would be a highlight of a lifetime to meet Marie Kondo, for sure.

But I’d like to add 2 more KonMari categories. Something for you to think about during your 2022 Journey.
In my life, I know that I need to clean up 2 additional areas this year. I’ll write about the first one today.
I. Body (Overall Health).
You know that I am currently in the middle of the Blue Zone Challenge. It is definitely a challenge. Since January 1st, I have eaten beef only once. And, it was well worth it! New recipe: Korean Short Ribs. YUMMMMMM. I have had pork which is included in the challenge (in moderation with the fat trimmed).
In full disclosure, I have found giving up my favorite grilled chicken breast very hard. And, another source of difficulty comes from staying within the ‘egg boundary’ – 3 per week….which I have accomplished!
My successes are adding nuts and beans and vegetables to my daily diet.
Extremely proud of the new ways to incorporate spinach and tomatoes drizzled with olive oil – baked on flatbread for my lunch. Because the challenge includes limiting dairy, I sprinkle a very small amount of low-fat mozzarella cheese. It’s delicious, totally herbivorous, and quite filling. It is now my go-to lunch. Yesterday, my husband – who isn’t participating in the challenge – asked to share my new lunch food. He remarked how appetizing the dark green spinach and deep red tomatoes were. We both agreed that it does taste as good as it looked.
Yes, I’ve lost pounds. But that is NOT why I am embarking on this Blue Zone Challenge. Health and Energy are really my 2 main objectives here.
And of course, I will repeat myself…..do consult your trusted healthcare professionals who can guide you when making new decisions about lifestyle changes.
