Good Friday morning,
Listen, I so get the procrastination thing. Guilty. Very Guilty. I fully understand that delaying action can stem from other issues. My OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) tendencies tend to make me strive for unachievable perfection.
Because I have these absurd and unrealistic needs for perfection as a [just fill in the blank], I suffer from ‘paralysis from analysis’ in almost everything I do. All variables must be in absolute alignment before I pull the trigger on any project. It can be completely ridiculous.
Take this blog, for example. Notice when my son posted the very first entry as he created my website? The day my blog, mywrittenthoughtsdotcom, went live, I started planning…EVERYTHING but posting.
Both sons encouraged and, later on, begged me to do a ‘soft’ launch. Soft Launch? Who me? No way. So I failed to plant my tree for a couple of months.
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” – Chinese Proverb
The ‘Chinese Tree Proverb’, as I refer to it, definitely tells us not to procrastinate, to begin right now. And too, this proverb optimistically reminds us that it’s not too late to create, to become, to produce. We didn’t miss our chance… because we have today!
